The driver told the truth when asked if he has a gun; Some common sense should have prevailed and let the guy go.

After 10 years of a clean record most states will allow you to own a firearm. Do felons not have the right to protect themselves?

Worse. There can't be one in your residence period. That means if you get convicted of a felony your wife (or anyone else that lives with you) can not keep in the same dwelling.

However, not all felony charges forfeit your rights. Depends on the class of the crime committed.

A convicted felon needs to obtain a "certificate from disabilities" from his state first, restoring many of his/her lost rights.....Most of the time, if it's a conviction for a "violent felony" it aint gonna happen, but a non-violent felony, white collar crime, amount of time that has passed, no further convictions, etc, well that's a different story....It is possible....

Depends on the State, more & more states are embracing the semi-recent SCOTUS (Heller) decision that the 2nd A is a right, not a privilege.....However, that said, get caught with a gun in NY/NJ/MA/CT/MD/IL/DC/CA without their state permit and bad things are gonna happen to you.... Law abiding or felon they don't differentiate....Jersey will lock you up just for the mere possession of a hollow point bullet.....

A FELON canNOT possess a weapon period. House, Car, personal pocket. Nothing. No weapons.

What part of can not possess or own dont you understand?

I use a 24 pound spring on 255 flat jacket in super .45 or Ranger T Hollow or Federal Law Surplus tactical hollow not availible in stores also in Super. (Buffalo Bore for the most part) There are some large people out there with enough fat, bone and meat between chest wall and heart center mass that penetration is a must.

Side note, for those who carry USCCA Insurance, they expanded now to all self defense situations down to blade, fist, martial art and home defense instead of just handgun or long gun defense.

Possession of the gun, bullets etc is verboten and subject me to arrest in a small number of North Eastern states. It's a shame. The Marines MARSOC use the same handgun I use.

I guess I'm shooting from a Texas perspective here(pardon the pun). I know quite a few felons who own guns legally, all were under deferred adj though. Felons can't conceal carry, but they can have weapons in their house. Maybe the difference is deferred vs an actual conviction?

Not true, I rented a room from a convicted felon, caught with 50lbs of whacky tabacky( in Sarasota, lol) . While I lived there his house was raided a second time and I had 2 pistols and a shotgun in my room. They of course ransacked my room and found the 3 loaded guns. They were left on my bed unloaded( I was out of town when raid happened, lucky me). Spyder do you know any muffler guys in Sarasota, you might know of him :)

High capacity is the lingo of gun control.

I carry 2 magazines in a crossbreed to right, one in pocket and that is 9 rounds each. Something like 18 seconds worth of boom boom for all three reloading rapid fire. Then the 4th magazine is the fall back emergency one. Some days I carry about 50 to 100 in the vehicle in addition to what they are loaded in a police shark triple mag holder ready to go for another 27 rounds if there is a really horrible day. That is not much 100 rounds done in about a minute and change.

Gun fights are decided in a few slices of clock and I make a habit of making sure that my brothers and sisters in the tac bay with their 9mm 30 round happy sticks empty the same time my colt drops it's 4th mag. (Reload rapid exercise) They usually empty three rounds before I do because they don't have to change magazines and then there is one or two more 30 rounders on them. Plenty.

There are certain words that bite me the wrong way friend, high capacity? What's that? Anti gun talk, it's bull. Your lights might be put out on one round through your fatal T inside your head possibly. It only takes one. Or assault rifles.. what is kind of talk is that? It's the same exact #### the US Military carried through several wars since Vietnam. And we usually have up to 7.62mm now or greentip 5.52 heavies. Or gun control....

This pair of words is my favorite. Gun control. It's ######### and I tell you why.

Let's say baltimore is the most anti gun city outside of Chicago. People will still rip a cobble stone (Brick) from the street and beat each others brains out. Savvy?
