There's a couple of OK places on there ... but you have some real crap places on that list.

    Such as? Let's hear it.

Remember Ive been off the road since 2009, prior to 2002 was my regular. Some of those places are probably fields or big box stores now.

Dixie Home in McLean, IL is now a Pilot/Road Ranger but the resturaunt is still there and still good. Better than average C store. Only drawbacks are that it's in a internet dead zone and a major hub for the dread Mega Bus.

TA in Amarillo is unexceptional save it has a a delicious Popeyes inside. I prefer the petro one exit east.

Agreed on Reno. We passed through a day before running Donner and it was not that great back then. Too much tension on all the workers inside the truckstop with a casino. The almighty dollar rules in Reno, everything else is self serving ########. I think the people who build that city must have been addled by the salt and sun crossing the godforsaken barren wasteland to get there.

Agreed on the Petro in Armarillo. And agreed on the McLean. Im sorry to see that the Pilot moved in. It seems that wherever a pilot moves in somewhere it's a Boa constrictor killing the good things off. I don't dislike pilots, but #### they suck the life out of a place Imatelling you.

I run up and down the 5 and I would have to say my two favorite TS would have to be the Jubitz Portland, OR and the TA Troutdale OR. Jubitz is the biggest TS on the 5. Has lots of parking and three buildings of restaurants, shops, movie theater, huge laundry mat, stores, etc. TA has a good sized arcade lol gotta keep in touch with my inner child.

Also there is a RA in northern Cali by Yreka that is next to the river. Lots of wildlife and parking very beautiful.

Agreed on the Yreka. And agreed on the Jubitz and Troutdale.

I also point you towards Fort Teton the location of which is not too far from my avatar pic of the Grapevine.

Im not a nature freak or tree hugger at all. But any time there is a nice stop where the blood pressure plummets due to the peace that reigns on the mountain then it's worth calling it a mountain home away from home.
