A 378 and 379 short hood are the same bbc 119" the 378 has a fiberglass hood the 379 is aluminum. The 379 extended hood is 127" bbc. The FLD120 is about the same bbc, they made a 378 set back axle as well as the 377 which was similar.

Yeah the were a prime candidate for a power hood opener.

Anybody have picture or stories of experience driving their W900 Kenworth. Are they harder to drive and harder to see over the hood? They look kind of sloped like they arent as flat as the Peterbilt 359,379, 389.
cnsper Thanks this. -
I think the W900, although maybe sloped a bit, is still higher by a few inches at the front of the hood then the Pete because of a generally higher platform. Not sure about the length difference between the hood of a W900 and an extended hood Pete, though

Drive a W900 every day and I don't have any visibility issues. Been driving a W900 or Western Star 4900 the whole time. The WS is taller too.

Here are some photos... Two different trucks long hood and wide hood.
-
i think the 378's hood might be angled steeper than the 379's maybe. In any case, the 378 was certainly easier to drive than the w-900A i drove.
-
It is, if you look the cab on the 378 sets up higher off the frame than a 379
-
I can attest to the 378 being different from the 379 short hood. Not sure what the exact measurements are, but the 378's hood is steeper.
-
A W900L has a narrower hood than a 379/389. I find it slightly easier to see over the hood of a KW long nose over a Pete. I drive a 389 Pete and can see perfectly fine, but I did prefer the W900L I had with a previous company for visibility in tighter spots.
