An old friend of mine is named Brandi, her last initial is S. But, her husband works for Sweet Express, and has nothing but good to say about them.

 

Sounds like Grand Rapids is becoming a haven for these European Owned not so reputable companies just like Chicagoland

 

Drivers need to be careful to look for the red flags , like for me, it's a escrow .... I figure there's no reason to get into my pocket for starters

 

That's exactly correct. Pretty sad that I live in the greater GR area and never knew that until I decided to go back on the road and started looking at these "family operated" outfits. CSA scores are thru the roof....You can learn a lot about a company by their Facebook pages...Just look at the surnames of the people "liking" their posts or pics and look for the common thread....

These crooked Trucking companies all need to be expised to the Department of Transportation. All the do is lie, cheat, steal, plagiarize, and try to ruin good hard working pwople. It's time to stop bad business like this and close their doors once and for all

 

Do not wprk for them, there are more than these accounts where people have been ripped off.

 

Escrow or 1099,or if the company tries to "encourage" prospects to start their own business.

 

Her husband was a 1099 Independent that was treated like a company driver by people that need to be stopped. You can add Waterloo, Iowa to the same list as Chicago, IL. and Grand Rapids, MI. as far as this HUGE PROBLEM is concerned.
Unfortunately with the (so-called) "driver shortage", I'm afraid the Government is looking the other way when it comes to these Immigrant owned 1099 operations, and rather than squashing it or prosecuting it...they seem to be actually encouraging it.
And with the Government turning their heads to this type of shady operation, they are putting the tax burden back on us honest hard working Americans in and out of the trucking industry.

Since there's nothing the Government is going to do (i.e.- force these companies to pay W-2), the only recourse we have as a people is to avoid driving for them, avoid brokering for them, and force them out of business........but that's not gonna happen because sheeple are weak, impatient, and lazy.
