Ive been working in the industry for the past few years and I'm finally deciding to become a broker.. I know all of the technical stuff far as the 75k bond and what's required to become a broker. I do have questions about load boards. Are load boards a good source to start off? and will I have to have a contract signed before a carrier take the load?

Don't know how good a load board would work when I was using brokers before I would use a new broker I want to see a credit rating and average days to pay.As a new broker don't know how many would take a chance on you.Do you know some local carriers that know you

You have to find your own customers, we were going to do this last year but somethings happened and we just couldn't put the time into it, its a lot of hard work, you literally have to sit there and call companies all day long and pretty much all of them already have contracts with brokers.

Don't call. Go in person. Have your lane rates ready to quote on the spot. Being a broker is just like any sales job. 90 percent of what separates a good successful salesman from a failed one is the ability to think fast and bs. You might only move 5 loads a month, but you better give the impression that you move 500 a day if you want to win a customer.
