It's what's called an inlet. It's three separate pieces the two are bolted together for shipping purposes. It is the piece that goes at the bottom of the dump pit. Basically it funnels the grain into the chain conveyor.
I belly strapped it because that top piece is not bolted to the rest. The flange that sets on the dunnage is painted and real slick. They catch alot of wind. It was the only thing on trailer when I got there. If I would have known that I was getting a big pile of trough in front of it I might not have.

Ok. Stupid question would the chain hook on the opposite side count as a tie down ? If it does he does have 4 tie-downs just in the wrong location.

2nd. Another binder on the other side of the chain. If the chain breaks, both binders flop loose. And review Oscar's post about chaining over the rubber track.
He needs 4 independent points of securement to be legal. Putting 10 binders on 1 chain does not count as 10 points of securement. Now, if he had short chained it, direct, chain to the escavator, binder to the trailer, tighten down, throw the rest of the chain to the other side of the machine, hook the other end of the chain to the other side of the machine, and binder to the trailer, that under count as 2 different securement a, because they would be operating independent...if one binder failed, the others would hold.
But Mac is running a rollback. All he has to do is run 4 cheater chains, about 3-4ft long, hook on 1 end and he's golden. I can understand being lazy, but you can't get any more gravy than what he's doing. 5 minute securement and you're done.Dye Guardian, nate980 and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
Ok thanks me and everyone else at my company haul Komatsu pc138's with two chains and two binders across the roller frame and one over the bucket I know that machine weighs around 33,000. Guess we have been doing it wrong

7th load of concrete septic tanks heading up to Little Saskatchewan, MB yesterday. Finally got some weight behind her and she decides, after about 30km, to blow the clutch. Must have been too much power, or when someone put the drivetrain back together, they didn't tighten something completely, or something just gave out due to age. A real shame. I think it might have been the springs or something.
But those 30km... WOOO!!! No other truck we have (that I've driven) can pull like her. Other trucks lose speed on overpasses. She pulls up them.
Took another load up today (number 8 of 12), this is the 7th I've done and I'm pretty sure I get the rest of them. It's a good little jaunt, and pays really well if I can get it done in 8-9 hours. Unfortunately, yesterday was a 13.5 hour day (at least they got a truck to me to keep going) and today was 11.nate980, Dye Guardian, skootertrashr6 and 3 others Thank this.
