I've always heard guys #####ing about reefer. I'd do it if I was OK with being gone 3+ weeks. I would love to do long hauls lik I did when I was a mover. 1000+ miles/haul is real trucking IMO. As for grocery whses/3am appointments, I get that in dry van too. We also do amazon, conway, fedex, and Sears which all pick up late at night and delivers early morning. My truck has opti idle so it starts and stops all night lik a reefer. I don't really see what the issue is...

I think Palmer and Prime are something like 40,000 miles with a trainer... is 2500 -3000 miles a week about average with a trainer? I really have no idea just got that number from a youtube video.Chinatown Thanks this.

I did coast to coast reefers most of my career. New reefer units are pretty quiet. If it's a noisy one, set the unit to "continous run" and then sleep like a baby. This way you don't wake up every time it cycles; shuts down and restarts.

Watkins Shepard did not send you out with a trainer when I was there.
2 weeks training, and out you go.
Don't know if it's any different now, but I liked that part.
No way am I spending a couple months in a truck with anybody.
I have heard so many horror stories about trainers that were crazy, I lost count.nomadatheart Thanks this. -
Can't say I was looking forward to that either.jet460 Thanks this.

Yep, running right now at -1 on continhes, plus the apu. I started using ear plugs, wake up only to take a piss

Biggest thing i didnt like about reefer was the all nighter runs and the midnight deliveries. There are many other things about reefer that suck in my opinion.

It's 2 weeks when you're in the permit stage then it's 35-40k miles with your tnt trainer and that is combined miles between you and your Trainer. Once you're running team you should be doing 5-6000 miles a week.
nomadatheart Thanks this. -
