Best Places to Stop

When I was a mover, any truck stop that had a bar across the street. Now that I haul hazmat, any place the smokies won't see me

 

If your headed in or out of Laredo, I like the Petro in Pearsall, Tx. Exit 101. I-35.
They have the best made to order homemade burritos. You won't leave hungry. Brand new paved parking lot and new shop. Clean. Friendly. They have a big TV in a game room and a drivers lounge w/ TV.

It's not crazy like Laredo will be and not crowded like San Antonio.

 

MIDWAY!!!!! AWESOME. I forgotten about that diner. But should have never forgotten.

 

I 40 , exit 102 acoma new mexico
Sky city travel center / casino hotel.
Huge parking lot that is getting repaved , Ambest / Ambuck fuel ,
70 gallons for free shower and - free laundry ! Thier fuel is a little higher than petro down the road but the free laundry evens that out .They have a mcdonalds , also drivers get a discount on the buffet next door at the casino .
Also - the showers are to die for .
Huge with BIG fluffy towels .

 

Repaved? Hm. I remember it was a simple dirt pad then a new gas station then a REALLY big new paved lot and then the remodeling and additions started with the old casino. There was a new hotel put up and so on.

With a old paver's eye, that lot must have gone into the million plus dollars to build there. I envy the man who got the contract to do it and has the outfit big enough to get it done.

They're using one of those machines that grinds up the asphalt and conveyors it into trucks .

 

A couple of my favorites:
Dysart's, exit 180 of I-95 in Maine
The only TA in Canada, exit 230 off Hwy 401 in Woodstock, Ontario

 

I'm there right now, I love the meat lovers pizza in the sports bar, but the service always sucks
