I was lucky enough to have a giant sand lot to play in. My Tonka's were the old school, all metal ones. Had roads built all over the lot. What I wouldn't give to be 5 again.

I had a road grader to make roads in my corner of the garden...and I had to break the cab off my International tractor so I could turn the steering wheel
Anyways, I saw a guy last night waving his phone around trying to catch a Pokemon at the Ameristar casino,

 

I had the truck and wheel loader (the old ones that were almost all metal). Between myself and all my friends in the neighborhood we had a full on construction site in the back yard. Good times.

 

Comfy chair - check.
One large pizza - check.
2 liter Mountain Dew Code Red - check.
Bag of cheese doodles and a white shirt - check.
A sturdy lock on the basement door to keep mom from disrupting - check.

In all seriousness, I quit gaming when I stopped smoking weed... Ain't got time for that kind of mind-rot any more.
Working in the social service realm I saw way too many game addicts. Struggling to keep their S together because they only wanted to engage their microcosmic cyber world, not the real one. :-/

 

Wouldn't believe how many times I ate #### into the back of the dump truck while I was running behind it on less than ideal terrain.... Good times.

 

We had 2 dump trucks, a loader, a dozer, a tracked backhoe, a trackhoe (Case), the crane with the clamshell bucket, and a couple John Deere tractors with attachments. All except the trackhoe and tractors were Tonka and all were metal, the way toys are supposed to be built. we had a large Clay Pit behind our house, and dad would bring a backhoe home from work and bring us a couple of buckets full from the pit and build us a dirt pile for us to play in. Each and every time, that pile would wind up being a hole.

 

Pokemon is apparently a cell phone game in which you go to gps coordinates given to capture more for your collections.

LA just today has twittered that Jails and Firehalls are not accessible places to capture pokemon for your cell phone game. I can only imagine some laughing manaic capturing the Lat and Long of the jail house and putting it onto the game to aggravate people.

I would never have dreamed of virtual pokemon in cell games captivating large millions of people. We hauled a load of toy Pokemon once and the way we were treated while loaded was as if it was a nuclear weapon being put aboard. That was like two decades ago. (And was...)
