The BIG PROBLEM with (ALL ' lease to logistics') companies- NO Health Insurance, NO 401k, NO Paid Vacation, NO Sick days, NO Paid Work phone, NO Raises, NO Bonus check, NO Paid training classes in which ' others in the class DO get paid' as in dispatchers and managers and safety teachers, MANY MANY MANY Expenses, when work is slow you have to find the money from somewhere to pay bills or you have no check VS- The Company I worked before the economy went down- I got a company truck, company phone, fuel cards, paid vacation days, paid sick days, company matched up to 10% 401k, health insurance, yearly Raises, yearly Bonuses, the company's mechanic maintained the truck, paid training, paid for TWIC card.

So are you a lease purchase, owner op or a 1099 driver?
zentrucking Thanks this. -
Yes. But you are "your own boss and control your own destiny and can make $180k each year!"
You only figured this out AFTER you got drawn in?zentrucking, Western flyer, Florida Playboy and 2 others Thank this. -
Well you are right most guys leased to a carrier are not making any more then a company driver with a good job. They are just buying a job.I understand some do it because where they live not the same opportunity to pick a good c
thers I don't know. There are guys in Charlotte that can pick good jobs but will run containers for $1200 to1500 clear a week no benefits when they would do better as a company driver. To each there own tho.
zentrucking Thanks this. -
You just figured this out? -
I guess my question is why aren't you a company driver then?
I made 100K before taxes as a lease op.
Use the same phone I'm on right now. Paid the Obama penalty.
Pretty much had weekends off.
But I like to work, and I'm pretty self motivated.
The first law of Davenomics is that if you are not making money, you are spending it.
You should honestly join the teamsters, it would fit you well, and aside from the BS is a good way of life.jinxutoo001 and stayinback Thank this. -
Oh thank you, you've saved us all by showing us the error of our ways. I shall immediately sell my truck and rely on someone else to hold my hand.
Do they supply a pacifier when you're grumpy? Wipe your bottom after you go potty?
The problem with most Americans is they expect someone else to foot the bill and take responsibility. This is why there are so many foreign nationals in our industry. What American drivers cry about they see as a huge step up from their life experience.
Now my specific rebuttal. When your employer falls on really hard times you can be laid off or let go. I can go elsewhere and don't even have to clean out my truck. Here's something I can do that you can't. I'm loaded for a local drop monday. I can deliver that load, drop the company trailer in Springboro mid morning, and be loaded and rolling by wednesday just by making a call and switching the decals on my truck.
Something else you're obviously not aware of. I can trip lease to another carrier without changing my contract. My carriers agents dont have freight, no biggy. There are 6 local companies that would love to have access to my deck for a day or a week.
Your phone, bonus check, paid vacation, etc... those those things are paid for by the revenue you've generated but dont get a cut of in your paycheck. The company doesn't have a magic safe somewhere to pull.money from. I don't get a 401k? I guess you're not aware that individuals have many investment opportunities. Of course if you just have to have your hand held in life.....Last edited: Jul 16, 2016
Voodoo Pyg, Lonesome, jinxutoo001 and 1 other person Thank this. -
maybe you should should not be contacted to haul for 90 cpm forever and get some customers that will pay you enough to buy all those bennies you need.
i will stick with my mostly 5 days a week health insurance. just had 10 days vacation, dedicated run old trucker boss company jobVoodoo Pyg Thanks this. -
your really over reacting.dont see where is was criticizing people who lease trucks to company's .Just didn't see a benifit in most cases .You got way to much drama going on
-
Read the op again... the key word is ALL. Also "leased to" is not lease purchase.
I have truck leased to a company and make a sight more than 90cpm. In fact this past week I had almost 700 miles deadhead and still hit 1.60 to the truck on hub miles.Lonesome Thanks this.
