I will need some numbers to back this up. My old truck had 100k on it. When the oil got changed, within 2 days it was black again. That goes for any truck I had that wasn't brand new.
Changed maintenance intervals

The only true way to know the condition of oil is to get it analyzed! This applies to diesel and gas engines. If I was going to keep a truck a loonnnggg time then yes, I'd change the oil more frequently.
That said, it wouldn't surprise me if they are stretching out time between maintenance in order to increase profits.Home_on_wheels and TennMan Thank this. -
Everything Schneider does is based off ROI.
Enough said.CruisingAlong, 91B20H8, 48Packard and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't know what Schneider bases their oil changes on. Whatever it is I'm guessing that Daimler has signed off on it. I have the oil / filter changed every 25k and have an oil analysis done too. At 25k miles, not beating the truck, watching idle time, etc the analysis numbers are just great. The Base Number is usually between low and high 5's so still life left in the additive package however no way would I go to 50k let alone 75k.
BTW anyone running a Spinner II or the like aftermarket oil cleaner? If so send me a message? Thanks -
Basically the costs for your own gun, grease, etc. How do you get under the truck to hit the zerks under there?

Stop by speedCo the grease only is really cheap.
Every 7500 miles.Scott72 and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -
I had the OPS and the spinner on my truck, When I added the OPS, the spinner stayed almost clean. The base depleats on longer oil changes, and can be brought back up by draining 2 gallons of oil and adding new, or installing an oil filter from lubrifiner as one of the full flow filters that has base in it and releases it slowly over time.

Grease gun ranges from 20 dollars upto 300 for battery operated.
Grease tubes I think are about 4 dollars each.
Getting under truck requires a skinny fellaHome_on_wheels Thanks this. -
Miles mean nothing to me as I've always done engine services by hours. So a quick conversion based on say 0 idle time and average speed of 50 MPH: 25,000 miles equals 500 hours which is a normal service interval IMO. I don't think I'd want to push it much past that.

Is that a good place to get a pm too?
