Okay, experts, you've helped me before and I need the expertise again.
The photo shows two antenna connections in my newly-assigned truck, which, apparently, came from a previous lease operator.
The black cable one I think is the preinstalled standard antenna. The other one I think was installed by the previous driver because it is attached to a higher-quality cable and antenna.
The problem is only one fitting fits my Bearcat 880, the one attached to the black cable.
I want the other one so how do I make that happen?
What is this?

Both should fit..On the gold colored one you just have to pull/screw up that outer piece to mount to radio..
DenaliDad Thanks this. -
You're right. All I had to do was screw that one sleeve down. But now I've learned that both antenna connections fail. No wonder I've had lousy reception.
Great. Now I have hard work to do trying to figure out the path this new cable takes and to which antenna it really attaches. My previous truck with the metal mirror connection made putting an antenna up so much easier than this new, fancy thing I have to deal with...not to mention trying to figure out some other driver's work. -
What kinda truck?

Im 99% sure that the aftermarket coax is not wortha crap anyways so..Dont buy truck stop crap..lmr 240 with amphnol ends..

My main problem is I don't know how much work, if any, was done by our shop - they install things like CB's and inverters if we buy them, but I don't know to what extent they do it. There are no visible cables and the space in the overhead is very small and tight so I cannot easily see the cable path to the two mirror-mounted antennae, one of which is a 4' Firestick; then other is a Peterbilt factory antenna.

A pete..k..No experience with them so i cant tell you how to route it..
My suggestion.....Get a 6 pack of your fav wobbley pop,and just look around for easy pathways to route coax..Dont let it get pinched(like guys who route it through windows n door jambs n such),dont pull it tight and dont coil up any extra... -
I have a good cable and antenna from my previous truck and if I knew the path the cable takes, I would just pull it through, but I don't and the company really frowns on drivers taking things apart!

Maybe it's time to save up some money and take a break at a TA with a CB shop...let the pros work on it for a while.
