How is sharing rates uniting?
Book loads that are at a rate this is profitable for me. If another O/O operator ran the same load last week for $300 more,.. I am not upset and dont beleive the broker tricked me into doing it for less. I agreed to the rate. I know how much I needed to do it.
I dont need to know what other O/O's get in order to be successful. I know what I need to get in order to be successful.
Truth is it doesnt matter if you know what someone else runs at. Maybe they took a load for much less. Thats their profit point. Mine could be more or less. Everyone has different expenses.
This is a business. In order to succeed.. you have to operate as a business owner. Asking what other guys get for rates is like working in construction and asking how much another guy gets for the same work you do. You made your deal coming in the door. Getting upset because you left money on the table is stupid. You agreed and you were fine with it until you learned someone else made a better deal. So now you feel cheated because you were not smart enough to make the same deal? Come on.. be smarter than that.
Leave the company driver mentality behind.

Wow, I'm on a per mile contract hauling dry vans and my last 6 months came out to $1.45. That's all miles including deadhead. Yeah, that's in Canadian money, but Can-US cross border stuff can be trickier to find.
