to the op, if you are planning an escape for the company you are working for now. you better rethink it. I would suggest staying until this time next year. let the election year end. if you haven't had a real vacation in a long time. that might be the ticket for you. taking a 2 week vacation away from trucking. you'll have a clear mind when you come back. and be rested and ready to go at it again. what i mean by away from trucking. put in for the 2 week vacation. go home clean your stuff outta the truck. and turn it in so they can reseat it while your on vacation. and when you come back. they will give you another one. that is a benefit of working for a large fleet.

I took a leave of absence yesterday after 14 months.
Got tired of hometime requests being ignored or missed by 72 hrs.
Literally, packed up the truck, called it in to corporate, left the truck with the safety rep at the dc, called enterprise and drove home.
Got a job, granted it's class b but for now I don't care.
Beats the alternative....
Me snapping and doing something stupid.
Had a 16 kw and everything. Just decided yesterday to go home.
That's what's important.Lepton1, David_Simpson and SHOJim Thank this. -
by dc? you mean the dc of the company you were working for? if not! then look to have an abandon vehicle on your dac.

Ya, I was on a dedicated. Left it with companies safety rep at the dc. Didn't abandon the truckDavid_Simpson Thanks this.

I'd second finding a good company to work for. At least a local-ish position where you're sleeping in your own bed every day and pays you decently. The entire thing about just getting into a different career is all cool on paper. But if you have no prior education or experience, the daunting embarrassment/inconvenience of going from $50,000/year down to $15,000/year would still leave you hanging with that stress you were trying to dump.
