My grandpa watched his buddies die across Europe fighting nazis and liberated a concentration camp.

I'll be ###### if I ever drive a car made by a company founded by those same monsters

The same could be said for the Americans serving under Eisenhower that starved 4 million German pows to death.
Bad stuff happened on all sides of the war

Yeah and Ford built trucks for the Germans during the war. Lots of tangled webs there.

I'm American, and proud of it. But let's be for real, our history is as dark and gruesome as other countries we think we're the worst. We did some very horrible things to people for the "sake of the country".

It still comes down to being wrong and doesn't make us any better than any other country.

That was an allegation made by a Canadian author that was never proven to be true. Records released later put that figure at about 56 thousand pows. Sad but true, however given the circumstances at the time it is kind of a reality of war. Your statement comes across as an F you to the soldiers who bravely served this country and the world for that matter.
A study revealed that the U.S. had the second lowest rate of loss of pows. Second only to the UK. Russia was the worst.
