Grabby clutch is often an input shaft with worn splines.

I gave $800 for my last new easy pedal, a place to look into to save some money that builds a good clutch is called Mid America Clutch.

If you still have a 14" which you can tell from looking at the clutch, if it looks like it is setting in a pot then that is the 14", the 15.5" goes with a flat flywheel. They may be able to build you a strong 14" so you dont have to change the flywheel.

I wonder if they didnt put a lipe in it, those are notorious for jumpy pedals.

not trying to hijack but im pretty sure that mine is a eaton value clutch. as it says eaton on the clutch and has the lock tab style adjuster and the value clutch is the only clutch i see in eatons line up that has that style lock tab.

anyone have any experiance with the value clutch are they normally a pretty jumpy clutch. with a very stiff pedal.

Any time the clutch behaves as descibed, it's likely linkage, bushings, or mechanical as noted above...or, someone not resurfacing a worn, heat-checked flywheel. Non-dampened discs are almost non-existant. I always try to sell the ceramic vs; organic material. Ceramic is harder on flywheels, but more durable, and you shouldn't be slipping the clutch anyway.
    Always check motor mounts too.

Sounds like it need adjusted properly, or it maybe hanging up on input shaft.

The previous owner said he had the flywheel resurfaced when they put the new clutch in, but I'm not ruling anything out. I'll find out a little more when I get a chance to look at it or get it to a shop. Thanks

My dad had a '78 W900 with a ceramic clutch. He swapped it out after his first year with it in the bush because it grabbed way too hard. Trying to take off loaded on a 6-8% was hard on the truck. Even with a 15 speed in deep reduction.

All most every clutch is ceramic. Organic is old type, or low hp
No body in there right mind uses them anymore. If a ceramic clutch is grabbing there are other problems.

my 2 piece clutch break fell off today. this evening while putting another one in i decided to do a proper clutch adjustment on it. i haven't had this truck too long going on 2 years probably always took for granted that the linkage was adjusted properly. well after putting the clutch break in i checked my bearing to break clearance and it was way big. so i set the clutch to where it should be and once i did that i had 4-5 inches of free play in the pedal. re set the linkage and the clutch seems to feel much better now. i only moved it back and forth a little where i am parked for the night so i guess i really wont know till morning and start actually driving it but i will report back.
