That's pretty common around here especially with the rental companies.

In my home state of Florida no less. This was a county truck hauling this thing. He was yacking to his phone on his ear as I drove by. I cant help but wonder what some people think when it comes to this stuff.

A lot of the older timers always say stuff like this "Back in my day I'd have 30k on the bed and not one strap.". And they're bragging about it?!?! I tell them all " Ever think you'rethe reason the laws are more stringent now?"

Unfortunately, it's not only rental places and DIYers doing stupid stuff. Several years ago, the city I live in bounced a fairly new bobcat off of the trailer onto the road. No chains, no straps and no ramps to stop it + rough railroad crossings and bad driving skills = 1 jacked up bobcat. Luckily nobody got hurt, but there were two new openings in public works shortly after that. 1 guy who lost his job was only a couple years from retirement. "I guess I just got lazy" was his response.

Is that the only thing securing it?

Just that chain and one in the same place on the other side.

Looks like the loaded both scissorlifts with a forklift.
