Not saying they're looking out for us, they don't want trucks that limit their capacity to any market.

that doesn't make much sense when we can already opt out of Cali voluntarily.......jus sayin

my guess is that Gliders have a somewhat sketchy reliability record.......that's why I wasn't real excited when I saw that Sadwar was looking at buying one. 2 facts.....#1., they're selling them long before their useful time is up. Fact #2., they ain't buying no more.......

I talked to some guys in the SNI shop and they said they were having a lot of problems with them.

    my 2 cents (American)

But what if those carb rules are imposed on the East coast, say the whole NE area.

Reliability, are we employees or contractors.

I'm going to purchase the truck I'm currently leasing. I just don't feel comfortable buying a used truck with emissions, especially since my first truck I leased was a nightmare. And I really like my current truck, love the automatic transmission and the diesel APU. Plus it only has 78,000 miles on it. Lots of warranty left....

The buyout is $121,000. I'll get $2000 off that for my Trac Match (I put $1000 down at the start of the lease), so $119,000 total. My bank has already approved me for a loan at 6.5% interest. My payment will be $2100 a month for 60 months....

My new lease payment would be $755 a week, so $39,250 for the year. $2100 a month for a year is $25,200. That's a $14,050 difference per year...

I just need to find out what the tax differences is. I have a general idea, but I've got more research to do....

    So yeah, roll on.....

Remember the entire company is moving to AMT transmissions. In theory there should be no company manual transmissions left on January 1, 2018.

None of the gliders have OnGaurd. Say what you will about it (I can say plenty as well) but looking at the safety data the gliders have more hard brakes and are significantly more likely to be involved in a rear end collision.

Some of the gliders were great trucks but poorly treated. Some were POS - start with a worn out engine with God only knows what problems, rebuild it cheap assembly line fashion and there will be a fair number of duds. Some of them he gliders I looked at online only had 350k, some over 550k. Mileage depends a lot on who's driving it. My truck has 30-40,000 more miles than the trucks with number 1 smaller to 3 larger. That's working roughly the same number of days and training half the weeks in the year (I lose 500 miles a week training).

Also remember there are a lot of company schmucks who complaints bitterly about the noise of the engine, the stiffness of the ride, the lack of this or that switch.

Lots of reasons that SNI is making the company gliders go the way of the dodo.

But none of those reasons s should apply to an IC who in theory is a small business owner of course with SNI the IC is not treated as a small business owner but rather a glorified company driver.

If I'm truly a business owner then as long as the equipment I choose to run shouldn't matter to SNI as long as it's capable and legal and safe to do the job.

    It's just another stupid rule.
Doesn't Fedwrecks require their ICs to have white trucks only?

If a company can get away with regulating the color of the trucks allowed I don't see how this is any different.

Just like the no bluebooth phones and no split sleeper rules.
When we agree to use their trailers and pull their freight we have guidelines we must follow.

The only big difference between us and company drivers is we choose what we want to do, create our own schedule and etc.
