FL Cascadia

    It's been a while since the Cascadia hit the road, and FL's website has a ton of "biased" info about the truck. Is the truck all that FL would have you believe it is? It seems to be a very nice, comfortable, and workable looking truck, but all the threads I seem to read don't have much nice to say about the FL trucks.

    Opinions please?

    The Cascasdia is a perfect company tractor. If you are an owner op it will be a money pit. Try to find the fuses... thats just the tip of the ice berg. They are difficult to work on and it will be awhile until mechanics are fermilur with them. To be honest the best FTL right now is the Coranado. I love love love this truck. Look at the engine bay, open free and everything is easy to get to.

    This is from a mechanic point of view. I know the cascasdia comes standard with all the new emistions standards... Well Thats my 2cents..

    Coronados are nice,But (my 2 1/2 cents worth) I'll stick to a classic,easy to work on and never a shortage on replacement parts and lot's of "BLING" available for them.

    I love the Classic.. It is an awesome Tractor. So versitile and an all around classic. hehe.. Get it ..

    I'm not driving one, but the company just accepted delivery on a bunch of them, with 13 speed Ultra-shift transmissions, and 515 horsepower Series 60 Detroit Engines.

    There has been a problem with them shutting down, I don't know how many or why, but I saw 1 at the dealer for repair. The mileage has been better than FLD 120s with red top Cummins, and the drivers like them other than the shutting down. The Ultra-Shift is not suited to live haul,so I don't expect to drive one anytime soon. These trucks are also equipped with Ali-Arc bumpers and Thermo-king Tripac APUs

    The sleeper is nice, and they are easier to work on than Columbia and Century Class. There is more room under the hood and a longer distance from the bumper to the back of the cab.

    All things considered, I would go with a Coronado if purchasing a truck, aerodynamics are good and it's almost as accessible under the hood as a Classic XL, while being more maneuverable. Doors are better fitting and visibility is better.

    The Western Star is solidly built, but has been needing lots of maintenance.

    I just got off of one that I was on for 4 weeks. Mind you my experience is limited but I can share what I experienced and what I gleaned from my trainer.

    When my trainer was asked about his truck his response was always "I love it" He is a million miler, blah, blah, blah but with all the time on the road he has driven almost everything out there. The biggest gripes he had was lack of places to mount antennas or anything else for that matter. Tough truck to route wires due to the way the interior is closed up.

    I was told that driver feedback is what put this truck together, so all of the creature comforts are there and the little things are in place and easy to reach while in transit. I learned in a Century and a Classic before this truck and the Cascadia is almost like a 4 wheeler on the inside.

    It's fairly easy to maneuver and rides smooth and quiet as well. I have no complaints and my trainer only had the ones posted above.

    All in all, I loved the truck and wouldn't mind having one, but the chances of that is about the same as the Red Sox winning the penn.... oh wait, nevermind!

    Give it a year super10, the market will be saturated so bad with the cascadias, that you will wish you were driving a nice ex hd 379!

    Its nothing but a cheap plastic truck in my eyes, just another new century with a wider cab, put some miles on it and you will be getting smacked in the head by flying plastic shelving!
