How about winter driving in Rocky Mountains? Aren't snow packed roads in Utah the same as snow packed roads in Quebec?

Appearently I'm a moron, don't know how to start a thread on here so I'm piggy backing on this one..

Can a current CPM driver of over 7 years OTR who is an efficient runner come to LS and given the limitations of having zero agent contacts still be able to pull roughly $7000 gross per month starting out? I can't afford to be behind the curve so much that I eat it hard trying to get off the ground if I make this change.. Thanks

By gross do you mean 1099 revenue?

    Rattlehead808 Thanks this.

7k is doable on 1099 pay (after Labdstar cut) without trying and pretty easy after fuel and such if you try. A definitive answer is impossible though because your question is vague. It's the equivalent of asking us what your favorite meal is.

Well it's vague because I can't see too far in front of the windshield to know really what to expect just starting out.. I realize I need to game this system at a certain point to start making real money, but need to know if I can get by on the scraps until that starts happening? I mean can I get by until these agents start noticing me? And can I get around $7000 to $8000 a month doing so?

Yeah, what goes in my pocket.. Btw, being 1099, I guess I'm accountable to make tax installments or does LS handle that?

Your business leases it's equipment and driver to Landstar, or any other carrier that takes on owner operators. Yes, you are responsible for your taxes. You're reaponsible for everything to do with your business i.e. Maintenance, payroll, etc. Landstar is merely the corporation that holds the authority, handles compliance and and handles the financials. Your business does transactions with the agents business. Landstar handles the paperwork. You should rarely talk to corporate. In fact if their calling you screwed up something or it's time to pee in a cup.

If you don't do well over that amount, you need to examine your strategy. You can do that easily and be home every weekend.

All this info is good. I am currently leased on with a company but looking to change. I was thinking about getting my own authority or leasing on to someone else. I am power only right now. My truck only needs net 3000k a month to break even but more is better. Also will LS let me put another driver in the truck if I want to.

Yes but the other driver has to qualify thru Landstar. So 1 year exp, no gaps in employment etc.
