Hi. There is a article on cnn.com today about the oilfields ramping up hiring again soon. Not sure if this is realistic or pure speculation. Not sure how to post link but you can check cnn.com or google it.

There's buzz about an increase in hiring over the next 1-2 years. In Midland we're slowly seeing some companies begin to advertise and hire, but it's still very early. A lot of companies will hire you even if they have no work. My yard has barely slowed down through the downturn. As we lost jobs, we lost drivers and those of us that stayed continued to work. Then last week our main customer released a work over rig and slowed another one down from needing six trucks a day to only one. There's still a lot of uncertainty out here. I gave my two week notice yesterday and I'm heading back to Florida. I might come back in a couple years if things stabilize, then again I might not.

Not sure what to make of it, but I am seeing more northbound oilfield traffic on 59 in Montana and 79 & 85 in South Dakota than there was a couple of months agorabbiporkchop and milkinitman Thank this.

I'll call it speculation right now. Oil did hit 50 and hang there recently and that did start a lot of chatter but folks quickly quieted down wen it fell to 45. Work will come back in all locations but I don't see it this year short of a major supply interruption. Some of the guys I work with have been doing this all their adult life. I have no idea how either. With trucking you always had a job. This oilfield stuff is feast or famine. Today your badly needed and tomorrow you're on the short list to the house.

C&J filed for bankruptcy July 20... Just sayin
and yes they still advertise hiring at their yard in big lake, just like a few others, but you never or very rarely see the trucks out of the yards -
I think it is just chapter 11, so they can get a stay for money the owe and reorganize.
-
Yes, it's a reorganization of debt. The Odessa and Midland yards have been hanging in there but it's definitely tough. Not sure how Big Lake is doing but I know the Iraan yard has sent drivers to Midland and Big Lake to help out as needed.

Thanks for that info Ben! ---interesting stuff no doubt

OPEC is screwing with the US oil production. I wouldn't expect anything stable in the foreseeable future.
Bottom line is OPEC is trying to run the frackers out of business. -
Thursday, I saw Schlumberger crews at hotels in Wysox, PA (Marcellus region). Something I haven't seen in a while. Also, the rail terminal that handles bulk sand that's been shut down for months was loading trucks when I went by on Friday morning at 04:30. And I saw lots of water and vac trucks moving around. Friday I saw parts of a rig being moved.
Seems like things may be ramping up again.
