Hey i have got a trailer sitting in a yard with no work and wondering what would be the ideal truck to haul it. Ideal means most economic for such load.
At the moment we use 2010 Dodge RAM 3500 for 2 car enclosed but it seems to be too weak to haul 3-4 cars.
The trailer would be able to fit 1 truck (like f350) and 3 Suv's or sedans just one after the other.
In my opinion any single axle Semi truck would be ideal for such load.
What is your opinion?
Ideal truck for 3-4 car hauler?

You got it, pre egr single axle is the way to go
brian991219 Thanks this. -
Any reason why majority of 3-5 car carriers use Duallies instead of Semi Axle Semi?
-
Well, if they stay under the 26k pound limit, they don't need a CDL. With a single axle semi, you have no choice. At least I am unaware of any that have a max gross under 26K.

I have no idea how to make it under 26k when hauling 3 cars or more with any truck. We got Ram3500 and 2car enclosed running just on a CDL edge.

EZ mb he wants to haul this
Car weight about 2K pounds -
Had to move this car from copart FL . Happened once in 3 years

They don't know any better, meaning they have not taken all the costs associated with their pickup truck vs. a class 7 or 8 truck. Also, it is easy to get personal financing on a dually thereby keeping startup costs down, not so easy on a road tractor, but in the end they end up with a 300,000 mile 2 year old run down pickup truck that isn't even worth the loan payoff value when they try to get rid of it. Been there, done that only mine was a Super Duty tow truck instead of pickup truck, but my partner and my brother have both done the dually thing and both learned the hard way! Heck, my brother was crazy enough to not only do the dually thing but it was a Ford 6.0L, double whammy.Ziggy319, tech10171968 and Terry270 Thank this.

Well said
Been there done that AND I can admit I did not know any better and I owned the first dually outright. It Died at 275k. I then tried to get a loan on a class 8 and was denied. Same week drove a 2010 Duramax with 100K on it off the lot.
I ran the pants off that truck for 7 mos and saved everything I could and bought a older Volvo cash and will never look back. Funny thing is I sold the Duramax for 800 bucks over payoff at a dealer I was checking some cars in that I dropped off the night before. Fell bad for the guy that bought it but i told him what it had done.
Now looking to get a Sun Country 5 car trailer and be done with the wedge.Terry270 and brian991219 Thank this. -
The Sun Country 5 is a great trailer, I am looking at one myself to put behind my Volvo that is just sitting parked as a spare truck. I may even sell off my 2014 Miller and get 2 of the Sun Country trailers, getting tired of the Miller and it seems all my loads for the last year have been mostly SUV's and pickup trucks, rarely build a 7 car load anymore.
