    Hello fellow Drivers! Can you guys lay out a few question That need to be answer when calling a company To know exactly what the offer . I'm thinking of getting my own truck then lease on with a company for a few year before I get my own Authority.

    Look for what you need,home time,areas they operate,what you have to pay what's coming out of your settlement.etc.I think running on a mileage at first is a good way to start so you can learn what your operating cost are.Then move to a percentage learn about rates on different lanes how rates work.Just my opinion.

    Do you have a plate program? What do I need to supply to get a plate?
    What are your O/O grossing per week? What about Net?
    How many miles are they turning?
    Can I hire an employee to drive my truck?
    What are your driver requirements?
    What are your truck requirements?
    What is the dispatch process?
    What do your average routes look like?
    Do you have fuel program, with discounts?
    What about insurance requirements?
    Do you have any other deductions?
    What is the average settlement after deductions?
    Do you have free parking?
    Do you have 24/7 freight?

    And after they answer all these questions hang up and call back to speak with a different recruiter and see how the answers change. No change and you will know the company has open communication channels, if everyone you talk to says something different then you know they have no standards and don't talk to each other.

    You are not done yet.

    If you have the ability to, visit the truckstop near this company and buy coffee talking to the drivers who lease on with a particular company you get You will be surprised how much help you will recieve and get educated on the really good stuff recruiters will not tell you.

    Another question I can offer to you is ask about 1099, Taxes. If they say yes they run 1099 then you need to ask many particular questions because potentially every 3 months you have to file taxes for your new business. And Uncle Sam can break your nuts financially if you fail to do it right. Cries of poverty and hardship falls on his deaf ears.
