Way back when I did my training with SNI, my trainer was on a gmspo account. We would drive empty to the crossdock, then switch trailers and pick up a loaded trailer with parts. Would drive to various dealerships was around 8 that we went to and unload with boxes of parts could be small boxes all the way up to the size of hoods with liftgate , nothing that I remember was on pallets, some dealerships would only be a few boxes, and a few would be a few dozen or so. If you was lucky enough to have a transmission or something, it was in a plastic case and used a hook to pull it around, was not on wheels but would slide easy across ground. This was always done at night, so you had to use a little electric box that would open a key thing at dealership and log time and give you key to door, then you would disarm alarm system, unload parts, and then rearm system and return key to get your electric box thing back and would all be logged as to how long was there. We was on a 2 driver system, where the second driver would come in early in the morning and then deliver rest of parts into city dealerships. If I remember right most of the dealerships we went to there wasn't much backing, just pull around building and deliver to shop area. If there was any returns, you would pick them up and return them to crossdock the next evening, otherwise was always taking just empty trailer back.

Just googled it. I've wondered what was back there that trucks were heading towards. Now I know :)

I don't work for Schneider, but I do auto parts delivery to Mazda dealers at a different company. The work is very much as the other driver discribed. The dealership deliveries are all done at night, no one there. You'll have a key to the gate, pull around to the shop, unlock door and turn off alarm, unload with liftgate, lock up and go to the next one. It's very easy, nothing real heavy unless it's an engine or trans, but ours are in cages with caster wheels so it's no big deal. You should get on it if you can. Beats otr any day. I make quite a bit more than $700 per week though. The auto companies pay big bucks to have daily dedicated delivery service so you may be able to negotiate for a higher wages.

Thanks for your responses. GMSPO is General Motors Service and Parts, not sure what the "O" is for. I believe the account originates in Denver, but I am in Albuquerque, and was told all deliveries will be in NM. I will be starting off night driving 7pm to 5am, slip seating with a day shift guy from what I understand. As far as pay, 720/wk is the base rate for 0-6 months of experience. I realize there are better paying positions out there, but for a home daily for a brand new driver I think its reasonable.
Thanks again for your input, any other questions I can try to answer, but my info will be limited until orientation next week.

That's what I was hoping. There seems to be no shortage of posts about the cons of various accounts etc on these forums. I figured the lack of any info on here for GMSPO meant everyone was either happy or at least not dissatisfied. Thought I lucked out securing this as a new driver, thanks for confirming it for me, look forward to training and getting started doing the job. Stay safe out there.

Have to be honest here, did the job posting state there was accessoral pay of any form?

salary or no I would have to think that extra is paid at a reduced rate. stop pay is stop pay seems to pay the same no matter what division or position , but the unload is another. on jcp we got 40 per trailer. while van truckload is or was 100.

it would be smart to ask if you can speak to your soon to be boss if possible through your recruiter. or have them get that info. really though, if its offered , it would say so in the posting.
