I have a load of watermelon that I had to sit on for a day . The broker forgot to confirm my appt with the receiver , so that caused me to sit a day . The second day , the load was rejected ( 2 ND day loss ) . Now , they want me to go , and drop on Sat , that may be a problem . We don't do weekends . I know sometimes you have to do what you have to do . But anyway what should I charge for the extra day , and potential delivery ?
What's a fair price to charge a broker ??

The revenue you lost for the day. So, Miles you could drive legally x Your rate per mile. That would bring me to $2000. If he says that is way too high, tell him to make you an offer. At this point he will probably give you $500 and say lets call it even. If he tries to give you anything less, like minimum wage for 10 hrs, tell him you will eat his watermelons in front of the receiver!!
diesel drinker, Ruthless, 59EX and 1 other person Thank this. -
They will not even give me layover , they are only offering 116 $ re route ..

Fair rate: $250/day, plus mileage at the same rate of loaded miles you originally booked for. Get it in writing or better yet an advance before you deliver.
I do not ever go back to companies like these that "forget". -
Do you have a van or reefer?

Don't worry I will not ever
