Considering what happened on the Coquihalla I thought I would post this thought.

Lots of brake checks around here, 3 within 15 minutes and the steepest hill around here doesn't have one.

    That said here's my point.

How many drivers are actually checking their brakes with an "application" of air to the service brakes ?

Looking at push-rod travel ? Listening for leaks ?

I seldom see brake lights activated when I see drivers walking around their unit at these brake checks.

Bungee cord, tarp strap or what ever you call them from the seat to the hand brake, or seat belt, what ever it takes to check the trailer brakes.

Dynamite the trailer and use a rod from the seat to the brake pedal.

Look at the push rod travel with a full application, shouldn't be even close to 90 degrees.

Auto slacker brakes need regular 90 psi applications to stay in adjustment, when was the last time you did that ?

I wonder what they teach in driving school ? I got to go to work.

Do yourself a favour and buy a product called brake safe with arrow logger, tells you when your brakes are out of adjustment and also when a maxii spring is broken, added bonus is you're supporting a good Canadian company

Dynamite the trailer while checking the tractor brakes, nothing wrong with that.

I'd rather chock the wheels and release all brakes instead of applying 90 pounds to already engaged brakes, lol

Why do you think the brakes are being compounded ? Weird.
