I know, that was little harsh. I usually agree with BD, I just hope one of his loved ones isn't one of the "idiots" they'd kill.

 

I think you missed the point. He isn't talking about killing anyone. He means if we stop saving everyone that aren't smart enough to keep themselves alive, the species would be better off in the long run.

I heard a saying once in school from a teacher, way back before this whole everyone gets a trophy and is a special unique snowflake bs. "Kids who drink draino don't grow up to have kids who drink draino"

 

Yeah, I suppose I went too far ( I have a habit of doing that) That "saying" is typical of our parents generation. Problem is, parents who never drank Drano, sometimes have kids that do.( and you can substitute anything with the word Drano) I came from the tail end of the attitude, " did you learn your lesson? Bet you won't do that again." Which I still kind of believe in. We're at a point where things don't happen like they used to. I mean, safety wise, you really had to keep sharp. Things were dangerous, really dangerous. And people lost digits, limbs and worse. It was just part of life, and everybody else was "supposed" to learn from that persons misfortune. And ( secretly) I like Big Don's idea, but say that stuff to a younger person today and YOU are the monster. I apologize to Big Don. ( this other thread that's pissin' me off, is that steer tire blowouts are preventable) Things, for us old-timers are just going to seemingly get worse, as we were taught, ( I guess I've become my father) a little common sense would've prevented this, but it's too late. And this winter isn't going to be any different than last. ( with the 97 car pileups) Again, this is the price we pay for this current society. People just don't get that.

 

@"semi" retired, no apology needed, no offense was taken, as I didn't see your posting as being an attempt to offend me. I know that some of my opinions are not necessarily popular, but that really doesn't phase me that much.
I just get so sick of the nanny state forcing business and industry to spend millions of dollars to keep us from our own stupidity. Back when I was growing up, you had to use your head a bit to survive. There were no "warnings" on chain saws, telling you not to try to stop the chain with your hand. OK, bad example, I never even HEARD of a chain saw, when I was a kid. But the idea is the same.
