What's up guys? New here. So I just recently graduated from trucking school. I got a shot at local company hauling gas (no experience) , paid by the hour better pay after 40 hours (overtime). Guy I talked to said they're giving me a road test next Thursday! I'll be driving a 10 speed (eaton fuller) last time I drove that was 3 years ago, I passed my cdl test with a super 10 so I am super nervous.. Any tips for driving a 10 speed? Also tips from the fuel tanker guys for my road test? Thanks!
New here..tanker job opportunity

Good luck, grasshopper
Jbeltran805 Thanks this. -
That's great. Why are you nervous If you have previous experience driving a 10 speed? Get on a 10 speed truck and practice before the road test. Good luck.

Well, because I have not touched a 10 speed in a couple of years. I don't want to grind gears...school I went to no longer has regular 10 speeds so I can't practice
-
Nobody cares if you grind the gears as all manuals are different. Relax and listen to the sound of the engine. Shifting is done by sound. Do not forget that tanks have liquids so you have to slow down and stop before you get to the intersections. Make sure you stop at all Railroad crossings with your window down.
Good luck with your testing but they are not designed to trick you up. They are designed for you to pass to get the job.Ryan423 Thanks this. -
As for tankin just take it slow and easy gas tanks are baffled so little slosh Listen to your trainer if your not comfortable with that one request a new one. Hands on is the best way to learn how to haul liquid. Good luck be safe

Just glide in them gears. Look at the shift pattern before you take off. Nothing to it. Don't worry about liquid yet- you won't be taking your road test loaded just remember to be light on the brakes cruising empty.

Oh and great job landing a local fuel hauling gig! Is it a bobtail or the big show going to stations? I worked with a guy hauling fuel that landed a fuel job out of school but that was in the 1980's when he did. Pretty rare these days.

I guess it is the real deal!!!
