Loading 46000 pounds of butter into the truck, a pallet at a time. Counting and verifying each box by UPC code and type of product and COUNT inside that box against the fistful of bills of lading that should match what is going on that trailer.
Then driving 200 miles to NYC in the worst of all traffic and waiting until 2 AM to unload that same 46000 pounds this time onto small wood. Worked to sort and stack according to how the reciever wants it. Then sleeping a few hours and getting out of the city to load another 46000 pounds.
I ate three meals a day, full steak, eggs, taters, and on. My lunch was salad and full burger and especially some kind of potato then dinner was again steak or ham based. Sometimes combo steak and chicken at petro.
I burned off what I ate each day in that dock and trailer. Some grocery deliveries take 9 hours of counting and sorting against papers in addition to basic lumping. lump on, lump off. I did not gain any weight until I got married and wife started feeding me. I gained again when I quit smoking. Then I got sick enough to require medical care constantly. Sitting around all the time gained weight into the low to mid 200's
Im back to 180 and plan on a final goal of 165. that will take approx 7 more months on what I am eating now. Literally one protein meal in the morning and then a dish of potato based salad meal in particular.
There is a whey protein in a can, throw that into a smoothie with a choclate based vitamin powders to finish off the day as a defense against junk food, chips or any of that nasty ####. About once a month I allow myself to get canivorous in a giant pizza or steak based meal in the Petro at little rock a huge meal. But... again, if you are not working as Im not there is no point in ingesting calories by the thousand because what will happen is I will become 400 pounds the second year from now and then 600 a year after that.
Forget it. Aint happening. There is a saying I learned in Toronto Canada, never allow yourself to become obese prey unable to run from a knifer in a place where gun laws are strict. Stay fit.freight-time Thanks this. -
I'll get it to you after I get home from my mission trip a busy summer for me.freight-time Thanks this.

Awesome. Outstanding.
There is one vice with food. There is a Grocery Distribution in what I remember as either Jessup or towards Landover Maryland, in a 1920's building with a old time power stack outside. These people would hand us a case of salsa to ship west into AZ and we would spend a few days and nights munching this stuff. It was awesome. But I don't think it would be that good what with all the spices and all.
I could never find a source for them, one day that will happen. -
Being a local driver helps....that's if you're not working 15 hours a day. There's no magic potion that'll help you lose weight or stay in shape. They key is to be PHYSICALLY ACTIVE and to TRY to eat healty. Forget about those Tai Cheng, Tai Bo, Tai Chi..or whatever new fad they have on the infomercials these days. Just go out their and DO SOMETHING, whether it's walking, biking, hiking, hitting the gym, or whatever.
When I did OTR decades ago, I had two different gym memberships. One was at Golds Gym, and the other one was at Ballys (now known as LA Fitness). Back then there was no gps to use, had to use the good old fashion truckers map, and I made a conscious effort to find one of these gyms on my route. Most of the time, they were located in a mall, so finding a parking spot for a big rig wasn't too difficult to find. Got a good workout and a free shower afterwards as well. On the days I couldn't find one of these gyms, due to remote locations, I would jog about 2-3 miles, hike, do basic calisthenics, and just do some exploring.
Just because you're a trucker, doesn't mean you have to have the stereotypical trucker image and lifestyle. Don't wait to the last minute to stay in shape, or risk losing your CDL because you can't pass your physical, just go out their and DO SOMETHING....like the old Nike shoe commercials once said.FLYMIKEXL Thanks this. -
I cut out pop, brought my kettle bell in the truck and workout at least once a day while waiting to be loaded or unloaded. Started taking vitamins and feel that really helps.FLYMIKEXL Thanks this.

Well, I'm back at it after an injury. I let my old eating habits back in since it was easy. But I was doing good up until then. Here's a few things I done.
1. Fridge for the truck.
2. NO dairy, grains,(aka..bread,cereals, rice, Cinnabon), soy, sugar, (including artificial).
3. I have a bbq grill to cook all my meat.
4. Download à app to help track everything you eat and drink. Keeps u honest.
5. Cutting board and sharp knife to cut fruit and veggies and some Rubbermaid bowls.
5.5 I have electric skillet for eggs.
6. Prep fruits and put in bowls and pull out b4 driving for snacks.
7. DO NOT carry cash, cc, or points cards in store with you. It will tempt you to buy things unhealthy for you.
8. Premade salads. Great during 30 minute breaks, or light meal before bed.
Exercise. ...
1. Real good running shoes. Important!
2. App called " couch to 5k". Starts you off walking a lot. Or just walk.
3. I had a road bike in my truck, but now a mt.bike.
4. Stretch bands.
5. Jump rope. ...getting the rythem is hard and a hard workout. I still can't Do it.
6. Get out of the truck. Doing something is better than nothing!!!!!!!
7. Park on the back row.
Everybody is different, what works for one might not work for you.
Think positive and have strong will!Last edited: Aug 13, 2016
