Can confirm, my dad, grandfather, and uncle all owned separate concrete companies. They could never work with each other. There'd be a homicide if ya know what I mean?

Spend about $25,000 on one truck, lease out to a company with trailers, and keep the rest in the bank for incidentals and maintenance. Do that for a year or two then see where you stand. Did you make money? Yes, then sell that heap and buy something better. Repeat until you can buy something really nice and can be proud to drive.
There is no way you will run a successful business of three trucks with only $125,000. That's barely enough to start a business with lots of experience and a nice Pete or KW.tommymonza and Lone Ranger 13 Thank this. -
Hey tommymonza, could you send me a PM? Ever since they redid the site, I'm not sure how to do it ( and may have trouble getting yours) Thx.

Plan B : Buy a nice motorcycle and ride until the money runs out.
After 20 years of trucking, I've decided working is way overrated .diesel drinker, truckthatpassesyouby, ramblingman and 1 other person Thank this. -
I think you can only private conversation now. I started one with you.

Yep this is the way I finally settled on doing it if I proceed .
I own my house outright and could get a nice chunk out of it.but I don't want to pay closing costs and have to get insurance on it.
And it will remain my one good investment and not be risked for a Folly.
Instead I figure the only way I will do it is to buy a decent pre EGR truck for 20-25 and run with it.
And that 25 will come from me earning it , learning the ropes while being a company man
I'm very mechanical and originally wanted to dump another 20 into a 20 thousand dollar truck. But I need to see the truck make money in order to do that anymore.
Had a decent offer to get back into real estate just this week. Problem is I don't want to live in Florida anymore.
I like the transportability of trucking.Last edited: Aug 13, 2016

Large loan from my in laws.

I've got a better one, if I had a spare $125k laying around, I could turn that into a easy $600k in a year, and it does not involve trucks.
