So I have a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia. Had the clutch replaced July 4th weekend because it went out in Arkansas. That shop tried to tell me that my transmission was also bad but when I took it to my regular shop for a second opinion, they told me that the clutch just needed to be adjusted and that they left a few bolts loose. Get my first trip out to California, 44K in the box, and it's making the same noise again, but only in 5th and 10th gears. Any idea what it could be?

The gear shifter is in the same position for 5th and 10th correct? If it is I would wager a guess that there could be an issue inside the main box.

Have you changed gear oil in trans yet, when speedco or T/stop pulls drain plug ask to see what shaving are stuck on mag. plug. then make plans after that ck.

Fifth and Tenth in the same slot, and get used the most; clutch issues before probably made an already going out box worse if you were hitting gears from lack of clutch activity: no saying you were but it doesn't take much to screw up gears that are about to go out.

What were the original symptoms before the clutch was replaced?

Honestly didn't have any warning that it was going out. Just pulled out of a rest area and sounded like it fell through the floor...and then it wouldn't go into any gear! Finally got it into gear long enough to drive it to the shop

Without knowing fully I would guess that trans is bad & the noise you heard before was the trans & not the clutch.
When you pulled out the rest area was it when you shifted the range selector that you started having problems?

No I was actually going from 3rd to 4th when it went...very low speed cause I was building up speed so I hadn't shifted the range selector yet
