Getting a 2 year card back?

Your safety man likely is correct..
"A DOT medical card is valid
for two years if you have no restrictions. A history of high blood
pressure, taking high blood pressure medications, a sleep disorder, and taking oral medications for

The OP now has a history of high blood pressure with the DOT and he'd be hard pressed to find a Physician who's going to say it doesn't need monitoring....not going to happen, too much of a liability. Even with a note from his primary Doc, the final decision is up to the examiner..

@RogerThat72 You could always call the Dr who issued your last card and ask them. I know mine told me if I ever had a question to call him..

 

Hmmm, that didn't happened to me. I had a one year card for two years and afters the Dr. gave me a 2 year card after those two years. This happened about 12 14 years ago. Maybe the regs have changed since.

 

Curious if your restriction was due to high blood pressure?

 

2014 I got a one year card, blood pressure was high.

2015 I got a two year.

 

Yes but was on meds at that time. I don't take any meds anymore for high blood pressure or diabetes. Healthy eating and laying of the soft drinks, salt, fried foods, processed foods, cured all my issues.

Have the doc take the average of 3 readings. Sounds like mumbo-jumbo, but when you know your first reading you can generally bring it down further by controlling your bio-metrics (breathing, relaxation, simply sitting still).

 

I thought I suffered from the "white coat" syndrome, but I actually had the ' low cut blouse ' syndrome. Nice female with cleavage showing takes my BP.,higher reading. Male does it , lower.

I am losing weight at a safe rate, buy the time I go for my DOT next year, I will have a letter from the sleep study folks that says I no longer have sleep apnea, and a letter from my primary physician that says I no longer have type II diabetes, AND am no longer taking blood pressure medication! (the blood pressure medication is to protect my kidneys from the diabetes!) If they have a problem with giving me a two year medical card the fun will begin, however I doubt I will!

 

Place where i work says NO ....regardless of the DOT/DR Discretion thing.
Last place i was at didn't care at all , as long as 'you' produced a DOT card
each year or two...so everyone is different.
Liability is the issue ....as long as the company is paying for the Physical
it shouldn't matter.
My dad was an airline pilot , think they had to go every 6 months to hold
a commercial first class card. That had to be a PITA

 

He may well be. But no research on my part has shown a ruling where you can go back to a two year. If you can find the regulation, please show me.
