Why do so many truckers pull into truck stops driving 1 MPH?

Because we don't want to shift gears anymore than nessary.

It's elogs. And companies are given a little latitude as to where to set the point when it changes from on duty to driving. We get up to 15 mph and one mile. And with our system , the brakes don't have to be set to change status, only vehicle cannot be moving.

I don't know about 1 mph but I wish everyone would slow down a bit more in the truck stop. At some busier stops they are downright dangerous to be walking at.

Unless they are in low-gear or a crawler gear, I don't think it's possible to go 1 mph. Idle in 1st is at least 2 mph/3kph.

The faster a truck drives through a truck stop, the longer it takes for him to back into a spot.
