Oh, I get it. Maybe some fake ID with his picture to show the receivers if asked. Can get most anything on the internet. There's even stores in China that make fake ID, government forms, government stamps to stamp paperwork. Those stores are right in the open and some are right next to government buildings.passingthru69, LindaPV, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this.

The last few companies I've worked for issued company photo IDs. That's what I hand them when they ask. I'd never give a shack rat my social.
LindaPV and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
Per OSHA regulations; "licenses" for power equipment are valid for and at only the individual location and company that the test was preformed at, not for anywhere else that you travel to.

Never release your Social Security Number....never, never, never.

I've been asked at military bases where they search the truck for drugs and weapons and take a copy of your DL. I don't have a problem giving them the info. Load confirmation sheet clearly states driver must be a US Citizen and they do an instant background check to make sure it isn't BS.

No SS number is to be given, they are not going to tax you so if a gaurd asked for one, tell them you want to talk to someone at the shipper who can clarify this policy if they ever ask. And if they say get out, ask for someone at the place of authority to have them tell you. I've dealt with this situation, I have a few drivers who have to deal with it and they've done exactly what I've done and the gaurd is normally fired.

Don't know if the security guy was fired or not, but he wasn't there this morning when I came to reclaim the load. Instead I was met by one of the employees of the shipper. Got checked in, picked up the trailer with the freight, and was out in less than 30 minutes! They apologized to me once again and even gave me a free gatorade!
Good folks over there!4mer trucker, TequilaSunrise, BoostedTeg and 3 others Thank this. -
Only problem is being OTR and no one to keep mail clear out of the mailbox.
Hello! Nobody's home! Come break in!Dominick253 Thanks this. -
You don't in any way need a SS# to look up a criminal record. DL# at most will at most will provide a criminal record. Often just a name will provide all that is needed.
Load is insured by the trucking company. Trucking company is responsible for the load and the driver. Every contract says just that. If they need to do a background check do it through the company. No need to waste a driver's time with these wild goose chases. This crap only happens because the driver's time is free. I guarantee if their asking for the SS# is only because someone other then the driver is a crook.texasbbqbest Thanks this.
