What about Zipco out of West Bend? Late 70's, Jimmy double breasted Yamaha, 79 mph, when you got back from a trip and did your p/w in the driver's room at 3 a.m., there was a soda machine...35 cents for a soda,...or a beer. When you left out for a trip (usually Sunday night), you would head up to the yard...trip info was under the mattress with $1700 in cash for expenses (fuel was about $1/gallon at the Bingo), and nobody turned off his engine. What was it...five hours on, four off, indefinitely? That was easy to log.
What happened?rocknroll81 Thanks this. -

I remember years ago my Uncle pulled a flat and drop deck for AJ Metler. I have no idea if they are still in business but I haven't seen one of their trucks in years, used to see them all the time around here.
My Granddad had a truck leased on to Steveco. It was a division of Stevens Truck lines, I don't think it is the same Stevens as you see today.
The one I miss the most is McCord Heavy and Specialized Haulers. For years they handled all the big loads in middle Tennessee that nobody else could haul. -
Mettler was out of Knoxville TN .
