Other Regulated Materials [ORM} was mostly superseded by class 9 except ORM -D which covers 'domestic consumer items' packaged for consumer distribution to the general public; things like blister packed Bic lighters, cases of hairspray and other flammable consumer items that will end up in the distribution pipeline along with other items intended for resale.

Thabks. But was a hazmat endorsement needed? Didn't need placards so I assume not.

You don't need hazmat endorsement to haul class 9 products. You are good.

Now, it has no placards, but I bet if that trailer caught fire. It would go up just like a 1.4.

Wouldn't placards be a good idea to responding people to stay away, we got hot rounds in here....

    Ahhh, government.

ORM-D is small arms YES you need placarding.

You can tell which local fed ex van is delivering ammuntion to homes in my area including my own, they show up with ORM_D placards. Ive seen as much as 10,000 rounds of them stacked in the back if not more.

ORM-D does not require placards. 1,001 pounds and more, still requires no placards.

Scroll up to post #6 and #8.

The only way to find out is go to the Code Of Federal Regulations. I'll use CFR Transportation title 49 parts 100 to 177. In table 172.101 lists all material that needs special attention to or if placards are required. In this case the description is as follows, Proper Shipping name - Cartridges, small arms. Hazard class or division - 1.2C. Identification Numbers - UN0328. Packing group - ll. Labels required (if not excepted) - EXPLOSIVE 1.2C. Special provisions - none.

I do believe that this type of load requires placard of UN0328. Further more I believe someone is dropping the ball and giving you a load that requires proper shipping papers with the proper shipping name.

See special provision 112. Cartridges may be reclassified ORM-D if cartridges was in division 1.4 Compatibility group. Cartridges, small arms Hazard or Division 1.2c.
