If it's a course to prep you for a CDL Permit (also called the Commercial Learner's Permit, or CLP for short), I wouldn't bother with it. I just got my permit today after doing nothing but studying the CDL manual for about a week. You only need to pass some written tests to get your Learner's Permit (well technically, you also need a medical card, which I guess I should mention. I got mine from an urgent care place for 47 bucks. Definitely shop around before you get one, I was about to see a doctor and pay $150 for the medical card exam). They're fairly easy if you study the manual.
Go to to this link to get your state's CDL manual (just click your state, then scroll down until you see something like "commercial driver's manual/handbook". You'll find a download link there).

I used this site cdl exam and if you have a smart phone you can find a cdl test questions app that works as well. However this sites exam worked best for me

Save your money and study for your cdl permit from a CDL manual you can get from your local DMV free of charge. All that stuff that prep class is teaching is the same exact stuff taught for your actual CDL.I'm curious how much is this prep course?TequilaSunrise Thanks this.

I forgot to say... Whether you need that course depends heavily on your learning style....
The Cdl prep questions on this site helped me a lot. But, the classroom instruction with a vibrant instructor, graphic aids, videos, and classroom discussion were a great help to me also.Weeezerd Thanks this. -
If you NEED that class to pass the test, please don't get a career as a truck driver.

I don't think OP came in here saying they NEEDED a class like that....and begging someone for information on where these secret events are held.
It appears OP asked if anyone has heard of such a class and if they are recommended.TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -
And I didn't say he did need it, hence the capitalized NEED, meaning the emphasis was on that word. If he NEEDS the class, he doesn't need to drive a truck. In other words, he asked if it was a good idea or a waste of $40, I'm saying it's a waste of $40. Unless he Actually gets something out of it that he can't get from reading the book like everyone else suggested. If he can't pass the test by reading and he NEEDS that class, I wouldn't trust him to be intelligent enough to drive a truck.

[QUOTE="ProspectiveTruckDriver87, post: 5413207, member: 186243"I figured if I ended up pursuing trucking I could take too (obviously once I got the CDL permit).[/QUOTE]
Figure out first if you want to drive a truck for a living. If you decide to than skip the prep course as it is simple enough to get your permit on your own. -
