Prime company drivers are governed at 55 to 58 mph. We get 65 as lease, but you had to have passed Prime snails....?
-
1 mile per hour is about 88 feet per minute. If a truck is about 73 feet long, you have to gain about 2 and a half truck lengths to make a pass. It will take just under 2.5 mins to pass, or about 2.4miles to pass.
If I have that kind of time and room to make a pass I will, most of the time you won't be able to do it without creating traffic back up in the passing lane.
If I am about 3 mph faster or more, I will make my move. If not, just kick down the cruise control and relax. You will not be stuck behind a slightly slower truck for your whole 11 hour drive shift.Lepton1, scottied67, tucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
and this is why everyone on the road thinks you're a douche bag.........but, like many just like you, that really doesn't matter because at the end of the day, with 11 more miles in your pocket, it's all about you.RustyChops41, scottied67, peterd and 1 other person Thank this.

traffic lights are the great equalizers.....

I will pass if I can take advantage of a hill (hopefully I am lighter), and I take advantage of gravity (without going over the speed limit). If the traffic is light and there is no one behind me for miles I will go for it.
If someone is trying to pass me going 1 mph faster, I will slow down if the other driver is causing traffic to back up.
If I can't pass I back off and adjust speed, sooner or later one of us will exit or go separate ways. -
I time my passes, kinda see how the other guys truck does on hills and such. Wait till the left lane is completely clear, then make my move. I do notice I do it different than most tho.
I'd say 99% don't care about the oncoming traffic and have no problem screwing up the steady flow.
The stubborn driver in the right lane is the biggest problem IMO if the malfunction continues for quite some timeLepton1 and Driver0000 Thank this. -
I have the same problem, but not to many governed slower than me.
But I don't run that fast but when a 62 mph trucks spends 2 miles trying to pass me I just wait till he gets even with my window and reach over and bump the cruise up a couple mph and wave good by.Osiris Thanks this. -
But the driver trying to pass you will just think you didn't have any idea what speed you were running or you were playing on your phone.

Not as.many as you would think. I'm usually pretty much alone on the interstate. Pretty relaxing ride, all told.
