I'm a flatbed 2 truck operation. I'm thinking of buying a van. I noticed on truckpaper that some good to fair condintion trailers are listed as sold as a storage trailer only.
Why is that? Like what do I look for in wear in a used trailer?

Over time the side supports on a trailer wear out to such a degree that the sides of the trailer can collapse under their own weight bouncing down the highway. Also cracks in the frame can cause a trailer to be out of service for ever. Same as a flatbed. Get a good DOT inspection done by another shop before you buy.

Age ~ some shippers will not load an older trailer .
Floor ~ some shippers will not load a trailer that isnt solid wood .
The metal plate up front ~ some shippers will not load a trailer that has more than 3 feet ( if memory serves me correct on distance )
Holes / door seals ~ some shippers will get inside and close the door , if they see daylight they will not load , some shippers even have a shower set up for the roof , theres one in albany ga that does that .
