I used to think along those lines but this app is great. Everything can be edited by the driver. Its a lot harder to cross out ink lol. Plus it auto fills in all your info each day, so it only takes about 4 screen taps to fill in the DVIR and then about 4 more taps to update your status at each stop.

Yeah, one positive of me being a yard jockey is no more logging.
-
Never delete anything.Log these logs like you did on paper, nothing has changed.CrappieJunkie Thanks this.
-
Wherever you take your ten hr brk you log that city and state.Log it as you do it.
-
The logs are your logs. As they tell you put in the location of all changes of duty statuses but as to other information do it so it is easy for you to remember. If having multiple bills is okay for you do it that way. If the DOT has a question, all you have to do is be able to answer it.

Origin is where you pick up load
Destination is where it's delivering
The O/D is about documenting the load, not you. Your logs document you- the driver.
I've never filled out the O/D section since the 90's. It's not required.
I'm using the KT app linked with the ecm logger (this is my first week using it)
The only thing I can't figure out is when it automatically logs my stops it'll say something like "23mi ne of Detroit"- hardly ever will it say "Warren MI" for example
Is this acceptable for location or do I edit it to the exact city every time? -
Mine always just displays the region name, rarely a town. I always edit it with city name and street/jobsite location.Riprap Thanks this.

So as long as my duty status are current I can put Tampa to Layton everyday until it delivers....but then what about if I have to drive the same day to salt lake to load....see how does that work!
-
That's unusual. When I hit the gps button at the side of the location line, mine always name the town I'm in, unless I'm way out in the middle of nowhere.
The official rule is 395.8 section 2
(c) For each change of duty status (e.g., the place of reporting for work, starting to drive, on-duty not driving and where released from work), the name of the city, town, or village, with State abbreviation, shall be recorded.
Note: If a change of duty status occurs at a location other than a city, town, or village, show one of the following: (1) The highway number and nearest milepost followed by the name of the nearest city, town, or village and State abbreviation, (2) the highway number and the name of the service plaza followed by the name of the nearest city, town, or village and State abbreviation, or (3) the highway numbers of the nearest two intersecting roadways followed by the name of the nearest city, town, or village and State abbreviation.Riprap Thanks this. -
Do you people who are using the app carry a printer with you in case DOT wants a paper copy? And if yes which model printer?
