I have a friend who may be interestee in trucking together, going as a team. I ask for your help either convincing my old war buddy to go asphalt cowboying together, or telling us why this is a terrible idea. Salary, lifestyle, etc all helps. Thank you in advance, and I hope this is in the right section.

Use the little magnifying glass (search feature) in your upper right hand corner and type in 'teaming a bad idea'

Your question begs more questions.... 1) do you both have homelife 2) are you already trucking? Teaming is hardddd! And you have to consistently get team miles (or twice the miles of a solo) per week for it to be worth it because your income is split, goes to separate households. Most successful teams are married or live in same house... Where the income goes. They make time to take regular breaks off the truck and can usually tell when it's needed because they already live together, know each other intimately. With Two guys cooped up on a truck you have to make sure you can sleep behind each other and realize the regular breaks are needed to keep your sanity. I've seen plenty of teaming guys go by the wayside... Brothers , cousins, family or friends... Become enemies in a short period of time due to bein on a truck together. And if you each have families... Being away for long periods of time is also hard... Are you gonna flip a coin to decide which one gets to go home this time? Best of luck to ya

Team driving is rough on the truck.Better be brand new and still plan to break down.
Trucks arent really made to never stop, team trucks rarely shut down, cool down.
Could work for a short time, as team members really dont see each other often, one is driving, one is sleeping, rarely get more than 10 hours off, so you better sleep.
Get stuck with a stranger, bad driver, bad hygene, no thanks.

Sure, give it a try and if it doesn't work out, simply walk away.
Couple of good team companies are Lynden and Brown Line and they both hire new cdl grads.

C'mon man, get with the game! Anytime you use 'asking for a friend', you must include 'which companies don't' and 'hair follicle test' when you post here. I was hoping for some action when I clicked the thread :(

I prefer local for a career, and I hear what you are saying. Main thought was run hard for a year or two and then could buy a truck, etc.

I will say this for trucking, theres lots of room for disaster, but heck, it seems like as long as you walk away with your cdl and your life you can just keep trying something new

This is an old war buddy, and probably the one person in the world I could share a truck with for months at a time.
