Hi currently leased company with 6000 tractors sliding pay scale per mile by the way would like to buy a reefer and go run under my own authority some of the advantages I have right now big fuel discount $50 labor in their shop Parts at cost really good price on tires workman's comp short term disability $503 a mouth health insurance thousand dollar deductible few little more extras when you add it up it's about twelve maybe fifteen thousand a year savings only problem gotta run 3000 miles a week lot of wear and tear on your truck to clear 2400 and when you take the taxes out I just just think if I was independent a higher per mile and it would make up for the discounts I see as being leased to a mega carrier, I would appreciate any feedback from independent contractor running under their own authority thanks

Your advantages don't really add up. Well $50 labor and parts at cost does. But really? What are you paying for insurance? A 1k deductible isn't a great deal. You can get fuel discounts a number of ways often about the same as any mega. $500 health insurance? You may want to shop around. And finally, 3k miles a week? You are driving way too much for such little pay.
You will here many answers here. But do your research and you will be much better off. Shop labor is a good deal. But I don't have my truck in the shop enough to justify a $20 hrs savings vrs everything else. -
No comparison I enjoy my freedom to much to do the lease onto a mega carrier. More responsibility on your part as running your own business. I run a whole lot less miles to clear 2400. You have to find out what works for you. What I'm doing may not be good for you and vise versus. Do your research & plan your goal to where you what to be. I hope the best for you.
tonycr Thanks this. -
Yes I understand the Freedom Part, I was just trying to get an idea of the cost associated with that Independence

NASTB fuel card will get you same, and in some cases better, discounts that a Mega offers.

Last week I spent $818 in receipts for fuel after company discount $649.22 after $0.17 fuel surcharge $326 that's a kind of fuel discount I like to get as an independent contractor

I would have to tally up the total numbers for pump price, but last settlement I paid 650ish after discout, had right at 500 for FSC. That is my company card. The NASTB card beats it usually. I don't currently have one, but it is in my plans.tonycr Thanks this.

3k miles a week for 2400? I take home that and run 500 to 675 miles a week lol

I elected not to get an authority because I don't have time to chase money, I/my drivers still have the freedom to pick and choose the work, and don't have to spend time in marketing, sales and especially bidding.
