15 an hour for hauling hazmat? Cost of living is a bit high in chicago but I wouldn't even haul dry van for 15 an hour, school bus drivers around here are making that.

Prodrivers is a staffing firm is it not?If you was to go directly to the company hiring I bet you would get paid more.

I've been in the trades for over 20 years now and they pay helpers/laborers $15 an hour or pretty close to it these days. $15 an hour to haul haz materials no way in hell for me.

Thats the answer; its a staffing agency. They're collecting a portion of your paycheck from the real company your working for. What did they do to collect that ([1.7 x $15] - $15) = $10.50 an hour of the wages that should be going to you, for your work; they put an add on Craigslist and you answered it. Quite a deal, they run an add at about $25, you get to answer the ad and for that they keep $10.50 for each hour you work that should be going for you.

I hate the way this industry is going. It used to be trucking companies would hire someone that new about trucks and trucking to handle their business. Now they hire some idiot that knows nothing about nothing, and pay them a large salary. Since they know nothing, they have no basis to make a judgement call on anything, let alone hiring a new truck driver, they send the job out to a temp. agency that knows even less and collects a portion of the drivers wages. So now the driver has two bosses, the temp. agency and the company, that know nothing and crap pay on top of that.

Im making close to $20 an hour as a 3rd shift yard jockey. You can do better, especially hazmat.

If you absolutely need money like right now then take the job otherwise look on your own.Staffing firms make a nice profit off the applicants plus they charge a nice size fee from the employers

Not sure if OP means the actual job is hauling hazmat, or just that he has haz mat endorsement and should make more because of that...

Either way 15 hr blows. Most ltl's start at 20 21 minimum.

In my opinion, 15 dollars is too low for anyone with a CDL, haz or not.

I agree, its not a very good hourly wage. Some companies here pay less the, that. One pays 13.00 an your and abuse from the boss is free of charge. That alone should be worth 25.00 an hr.I'm talking about a construction company I drove for.

This is the reason that these companies post these ridiculously low rates for drivers because they know someone will come along and take it.
