That's what I drive. Only complaint I have is the transmission but its an '04. They're better on the newer models. Any of the big three will do the job, its more a matter of preference than performance, as they're all pretty equally matched in the 3500 category.
Not much light weight freight right now and whats there is mostly cheap. If you haven't spent money yet I'd look the market over some more. Sign up for a load board and see what's available and build you some imaginary trips using realistic miles and times, then see how it looks. You can do the same fro class 8 and it's not any better just more cheap loads to pick from which means your deadhead may be less.
