Well luckily my company completely backs me and already have my next load so screw em. Like I told my dispatcher you pay me to deliver loads, not die or kill people.

And you're right stuff moves easier then you think. I was tightening a chain on an 8k lb machine and watched it spin a little. I was doing 4 X chains. Figured out you gotta take the slack out of the chains before you start to tighten. I felt strong that day.

Funny, after reading this yesterday I saw a flat bed drive by me with a similar setup. Bundles of what looked like long rods set up three across with the wide space between each bundle empty like in the picture posted above.

I felt so smart.... Such a rare feeling for me... lol

Trying to weasel my way in to a safety/compliance position. Right now it's divied up between the 2 dispatchers who have 12 trucks each. If the money's right I'll sleep in the same bed as my wife every night.:D

I've been to places(including the ones mentioned in this thread) that want to load this way and explained why is dangerous and never had a problem with them working with me to make it safe. A couple 2x4s, a saw, a hammer and nails and about an hour of time. Then a couple choker straps or chains.

Chewy not trying to say you pulled an attitude with the guy, just sharing my experiences at the same facility. Sometimes it's not what you say but the approach you use.

RStewart, Viceroy1 and Chewy352 Thank this.

Oh the attitude came out when he wouldn't stop complaining. It's my life and license on the line not his. I have no regrets. I didn't get my attitude till the very end and it was well deserved.
