    Trust me I know.
But there are to many pieces missing here. You and I know the drill.
    Crated machinery.
Sign for crate count only. Crates are said to contain X with condition unknown.
The thing I'd like to know is what the crate looked like before it was opened.
That tells the tale on who done it.

?I believe he said he hired a "Broker" Thinking it was a carrier..........

That's why transportation is completely "Ruined" In my eyes these days,as well as others that are established in this business......

Too much confusion on who "Actually" has control of someone's freight..To Many people in this industry these days....

You have 'brokers' posing as purse strung carriers even though they have no trucks. and you have carriers re-brokering freight to Joe Schmo to gain a buck.

see What an open deregulated market gets you?..Nothin' But Issues. Just couldn't keep it simple.

This drill press wasn't "crated" in the typical sense, or this likely wouldn't have happened.

I'm thinking it was just banded to a pallet. That is what we in the LTL business call "unprotected freight", where any claims originating therefrom will go ignored.

  5. We are sorry for the circumstance that brought MachineShipper to add CSA to this thread. It is not uncommon for a claim investigation of this nature to take longer than 60 days.

This shipment was signed as received "clear" and was a used and unprotected machine.

CSA is not a freight broker we are a non asset based freight forwarder with 10 locations across Canada and the US. As another member posted above, one is in Surrey, BC near the PAC Highway border crossing.

Sounds like flowery words for a broker, but what do i know.

[IMG]A non-asset based logistics service provider does not own the assets necessary to manage and implement a supply chain. Instead, a non-asset based provider offers its expertise in negotiating contracts with carriers, maintaining carrier relationship management programs, warehouses, and distribution centers in order to manage your supply chain at the lowest possible cost to your business. A non-asset based logistics provider realizes that every client has different priorities for their logistics operations, and since they do not need to utilize an inventory of assets to remain profitable, non-asset based third party logistics companies exhibit a flexibility in supply chain solutions that asset based logistics providers do not.

Broker= Company that wants to make money off the industry with minimum outlay, ovehead, or effort.
Shipper that hires broker= Company that wants to get something shipped without the effort or researching best possible combination of rate and dependability for their needs.
So the lazy hire the lazy and wonder what went wrong in the end?
