Off topic in the context of the discussion we were having regarding TRAINING. Leasing is typically never a good idea - especially for someone new to the industry. Way too much to learn in the first couple of years, to take on the additional headache of "owning your own business". Much better off, getting paid to drive a companies equipment, get them to do your taxes (withholding/SS), help with your health insurance, etc.

The reality is that lease ops - for the amount of risk vs reward - aren't making that much more than company drivers with no risk (once you balance out tax and other overhead liabilities - not to mention maintenance, repairs, etc.).

Now - that being said - lease-ops at the mega's, can do better for themselves by becoming trainers. In most phase II's, where the truck is run as a team truck, there can be some financial incentive there. Until the guy you're training breaks your truck and you end up down for days and having to pay for the repairs (while not earning, and still having your lease payments due).

But again - that's not what we were discussing - nor was it the topic of your original troll.

I understand you were "generalizing" about trainers and companies - but much of those generalizations do not seem to be the case at AMX.

Awesome... I have not yet met Shirley but glad you found a more palatable trainer.

 

We ARE aware and Abilene is NOT a Mega Fleece operation and does NOT use that business model. Pretty simple actually.

 

I felt so bad for you having to drive team with JohnBoy and at nights too, that I bought you dinner... Poor thing.... Glad you even survived it.

Were you shuttling them from that mineral place in king william?. Delivered there yesterday and guy there was complaining about all our empties there. I counted at least 8.

I thought that would be a sweet gig moving them,but not my place to say.
