Like it was stated before it's a proposal, it will be open for comment. Make your comments, get people you know to make comments also. As you have seen with the e log mandate it has taken time to be passed and it still may not be mandated.

Yep when the speed limiters don't solve the nonexisting problem. They will pass a law to limit truck in the left lane everywhere.

Other than my POS Toyota Echo or my other POS Dodge Omni, I've never had a car that couldn't run circles around PA State Police Interceptors! Heck, I took down one of those fancy new Charger POSs with a '79 Buick LeSabre Coup.

Of course, 90% of fast driving involves being crazier than the other guy. Very few State Troopers are as crazy as me when it comes to WINNING!

You are correct. Power is friend and a life saver. If your engine is suffering a derate and got casterated the moment you lose that steer tire.. Hold on, don't touch anything and force her to the shoulder but gently.

There was one incident where I was over tired being a stupid billy bigrigger in Missouri. In the rain she touched the grass over clay, mud etc off the pavement and instantly grabbed the whole thing by the tires and pulled me clean off road with a 40 degree slope coming into my face.

I slammed the power down to the wheels plowed back up onto the road with a vicious bounce over that concrete pavement edge which was about a foot. As soon all wheels hit the pavement, I come back off the power and held or froze until she settled down.

I hate the chemical function in the human body that dumps so much distraction into the blood stream and alter time sense for me. I got lucky that day. And no I did not tell the shop a #### thing I did not want to get fired for running off the road for a preventable cause.

Here's a vid that shows what you're supposed to do when you blow a steer tire. It was produced by the ATA. They are spooky full of poop now....

To narrow it down in the ATA, this is coming because of Tom Kretsinger of American Central Transport out of Liberty MO. His dad, a lawyer, bought a DOT number and once he retired, gave the company to his lawyer kids. This is what happens when lawyers run companies instead of people knowledgeable about the particular trade.

If you carefully watch the movement of traffic in areas like Toronto and Montreal with the speed limiters on trucks at 65, the net effect is to slow all the traffic down. That is the real reason the FMCSA in tandem with the DOT wants to enact something like this. They know the automobile drivers(voters) would never stand for speed limits as slow as what is the defacto limit now in Canada with trucks acting as a rolling road block. Of course there is the occasional road rage thing with a car whipping around changing lanes etc.
I don't like the idea, and I will contribute money to OOIDA to fight it.

OOIDA presents some real good arguements for not making speed limiters into law, does FMCSA care not at all.Its coming and the comment section is for everyone except anyone in the trucking industry. Most trks are governed today, has the crashes reduced any if not it's more the 4 wheelers fault.I think 60 mph would be way too slow.

Too bad OOIDA is an insurance company. With some unsavory associates.
    Remember Brooklyn?
