so I have a quick question. I have 2 coolers in my truck one with ice and an ice less 12v.
My question is do you recommend storing meat in the ice or ice less because if I don't make it to a truck stop my ice melts and I'm screwed "Just happened this week". My concern is whether my ice less cooler can really keep the meat at a safe temp. Any advice

I would only trust the ice. The other cooler is only good for 20 degrees below ambient temperature

I recently bought an Igloo cooler, and stuff towards the top (where the cooling element is) had bits of ice clung to it after sitting unopened for 12-13 hours.

20 to 40 below ambient, probably 30 average, but putting frozen meat in would lower that some, if fresh, then you should keep it on ice and be ready to cook it, and don't carry too much.

The koolatron I use now is good but I don't carry that much that I worry about it.

Got a 5 day marine cooler, and don't even carry it anymore.

Carrying raw meat is just begging for salmonella. I'm also extremely careful with my Miracle Whip, hardboiled eggs, and lunch meats.

My Coleman 12V cooler will keep any meat good for several days.
Keep it close to the vent and it will stay cold enough.

Miracle Whip, hard boiled eggs, and lunch meats go to the back.
They don't need as much cold as does raw meat.

I don't use a cooler, either type. If the meat is raw, I would only carry what I could eat in a couple days while on ice. If it was cooked, sausage and vacuum packaged food should last a few days.
Condiments pick up all you need in the packaged singe packets at any fast food restaurant. Mayo, ketchup, mustard, many flavors.
Carry raw veggies and fruits and berries in the other cooler. They can last over a week.
    Good luck.

    Wow, ice?

Do yourself a favor, just invest into a probable fridge, get an Engel.
