It may. At my company you have the option to either lease under their authority or run your own authority and insurance. If you have your own authority it can open doors for better backhaul rates direct with shippers. The advantage of leasing on with a company with your own authority, at least with mine, is you are paid a percentage with high tariff freight outbound.speedyk Thanks this.

So, how long have you been a O/O?
-
Trans Logistic in Henderson, NV. That one, I quit. I have my own authority right now. Active and all. What i am doing is pulling other companies trailers for a month. Then I will buy my own. Most brokers want you to have at least 30 days with your own authority before they allow you to pull their loads. I have two of my own customers but without a trailer I haven't started with them yet. I came back on this tread tonight because I remembered I worked for Fastenal....also fired.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Insurance is thru True North and OOIDA.

Wooly,
Can you place an over/under bet for me? I give you 6 months...don't get me wrong I wish you the best but that track record of getting fired looks pretty extensive to me. Yes you can be fired as an O/O it's when brokers stop calling you.

That's what I am wondering too. The man seems to have pulled off a financial miracle. Or perhaps he had a suitcase of cash stashed from his investment banking days in Africa?
